Study In India

The Study in India (SII) Portal is a flagship project of Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India to encourage international students to explore educational opportunities at top Indian universities. It was jointly introduced by Ministry of Education, Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) and Ministry of Home (MHA) on 3rd August 2023.

The SII portal is a one-stop platform for international students wishing to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, short-term, or research-based academic programs in India. It serves as a seamless digital gateway to India’s higher education ecosystem.  

All foreign students who wish to study in India are required to register on the SII portal and submit the required information. Upon successful registration, a unique ID (SII-ID) is generated which must be quoted on the student visa application. 

The Ministry of Home Affairs has launched the e-Student Visa, enabling students to apply for their visa using the SII-ID via the Indian Visa Portal. For more information, please visit: https://www.studyinindia.gov.in/
