Trade Advisory for Indian Suppliers/Exporters
Indian companies are advised to take due precaution while engaging in business transactions with Northern Ireland/UK counterparts, particularly when dealing with new or unfamiliar companies. A recommended list of check-points is placed below. It is not an exhaustive list of measures or options.
- Run a credentials check on the Northern Ireland/UK company, including through Companies House (a free, public register of all UK-registered companies at find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk), or by contacting the Consulate/High Commission who may respond with basic information.
- Before signing a contract or purchase order, verify the company's registration and current status on the Companies House register.
- Deal only with officially authorised persons of the company, confirming their identity where appropriate.
- Have a written agreement covering the terms and conditions of the business transaction.
- Consider site visits for large transactions and retain records/photographs where appropriate.
