Introducing young minds to India’s timeless art traditions!

The Consulate hosted a special hands-on workshop on Warli art, a dedicated session designed just for children.

The event saw an enthusiastic turnout, with many children and their parents joining in the creative fun! Led by Vaishnavi Gobade of KalaRoots, young participants learned about the origins of Warli art — one of India’s oldest tribal art forms, tracing back to the Warli community of Maharashtra. They discovered how it is traditionally made using natural rice-paste pigment and simple bamboo-stick brushes on mud walls, and what makes its geometric patterns of circles, triangles and squares so special — each shape telling a story of daily life, nature and community.

Beyond the art itself, the children got a glimpse into India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, and everyone went home with their own hand-painted Warli souvenirs to treasure!
